About the Item

Hand-knotted in wool and originating from Germany circa 1920-1930, this 3x6 antique tiger runner rug is an exciting, rare new curation from the Rug & Kilim collection. On the Design: Pictorial rugs are among some of the richest works of folk art in any culture, though connoisseurs will note this piece is a particularly special piece like few European rugs from its period. The design depicts a single, bold tiger of outstanding detail in bright red, off-white and brown against a beige field. Its depiction of a roaring tiger is especially graphic, and a dynamic representation of this animal like few even among cultures known for this style. The sense of movement is distinguished from its kind, though its striking presence and attitude are exemplary for the attitude that animal rugs, especially tigers, embody. Condition: This collectible further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is ideal for wall-hanging projects as it is the floor.
