About the Item
Hand knotted rug in France in the town of Cogolin with brown background color and stylized continuous design in shades of pink and blue. These carpets were made in small pieces and then joined together. It has two minor restorations done by professionals, as can be seen from the photos.
Dimensions 388 cm. x 268 cm.
Founded in 1928 by Jean Lauer, the Manufacture Cogolin experienced significant growth from the 1930s onwards. From handcrafting to weaving on 19th-century Jacquard arm looms, the Cogolin carpet is recognizable for its unmatched elegance in its raised floral and geometric patterns and its lively range of colors. It occupies a prominent place in French heritage, thanks to the richness of its historical and cultural heritage and the skill of its craftsmen.
