Kandinsky 2 Hand Knotted Modern Painting Rectangle Rug Large Size
By Sonya Winner
Located in London, GB
The Kandinsky Collection is a series of 3 colourful art rugs which feature painterly circular motifs woven in hand-dyed 100% New Zealand wool yarn which pay homage to Wassily Kandinsky’s vibrant palette and style. Sonya’s love for art has always been a great inspiration during her design process. Sonya aims to capture not only the essence of Kandinsky’s artistic legacy but also to infuse the rug with a contemporary design that allows you to transform conventional floor space into functional art underfoot. Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter and art theorist who played a crucial role in the development of abstract art during the early 20th century. He believed that art should express the artist’s inner emotions and spiritual essence rather copying the external world around them. This is what lead him to create work where colours and shapes interact with each other, producing a sense of movement and energy. He used bold, contrasting colours and geometric forms to convey his intense emotions provoking a powerful response from the viewer. The Kandinsky 2 is a hand knotted, captivating rug design inspired by the abstract painting of artist Wassily Kandinsky. Kandinsky, who as a child in Moscow was fascinated and exceptionally stimulated by colour. Every knot in this rug is created by hand with meticulous precision by artisanal weavers in our best quality hand-dyed 100% New Zealand wool yarn, reflecting the intricate brushstrokes and vibrant colours reminiscent of Kandinsky’s work Concentric squares and circles (1913). The Kandinsky rugs...
