A distinguished early 20th-century European Arts & Crafts rug by renowned Scottish designer Gavin Morton, dating back to the 1920s. This decorative piece exemplifies the core philosophy of the Arts and Crafts movement: harmony with nature, clarity of design, and masterful craftsmanship.
The rug features a rich, balanced composition centered around a large field of cool celadon green, sparsely adorned with stylized botanical motifs in the corners. Each quadrant presents abstracted clusters of purple blooms or berries, connected by meandering green stems—delicate and symmetrical, but never rigid. The surrounding wide border is rendered in a warm terracotta tone and further embellished with bold tulip-like florals and curling vines in soft greys, ochres, and moss greens.
