About the Item

This is a square rug of great sophistication, with a minimalist yet elegant design. The main field of the carpet is a uniform and warm ochre/mustard color that exudes a cozy and comfortable feeling. In the center of the rug is the monogram "LM," representative of interior designer Liselotte Malmsten. The carpet border is stylized, with abstract patterns that recall the sobriety of the overall design. This border is made with a palette of browns, varying from lighter to darker tones, creating a delicate contrast with the ochre center. The motifs of the border could recall stylized Swedish natural elements, always maintaining a consistency of color and style that enhances the elegance of the rug. Its very unique size cm. 149 x cm. 145 makes it easy to fit into many environments. Born in 1922 in Switzerland, she graduated in 1947 as an interior architect in Zurich, directed by figures such as Johannes Itten of the Bauhaus movement. The same year he moved to Sweden where he worked for many years with Carl Malmsten, here he designed curtains, upholstery fabrics and interiors. In his personal art practice, he uses a variety of techniques: tapestry, embroidery, painting, kilims and knotted carpets.
