About the Item

A striking pair of Italian lounge chairs from the 1950s, attributed to Gio Ponti for Casa e Giardino. These sculptural pieces stand out for their refined proportions, soft curves, and distinctive splayed legs. Meticulously restored, they’ve been reupholstered in a balanced mix of grey-beige linen and rich red velvet. The interplay of texture enhances the chairs’ silhouette, creating depth without distraction. Why we love them They embody the soul of 1950s Italian design: optimistic and elegant. We love how the warm velvet contrasts with the linen, and how their sculptural form adds presence without overpowering. Timeless yet full of character. Giovanni Ponti (1881-1979), known as “Gio” Ponti, is a major figure in Italian and international design in the 20th century. We are an exhibition space and an online destination established by the passionate art director behind Jonathan Amar Studio.  Our gallery presents a harmonious mix of iconic and engaging 20th-century pieces and bespoke contemporary lighting. With a strong focus on Italian mid-century designs, his success strives from sourcing designs with striking shapes, creative techniques, and interesting materials that cross the concept of time in the same way a Spirit does.
All our pieces are expertly restored at our atelier and we only offer items that will last another lifetime. Our 350 square meter workspace includes a luminous gallery, a restoration atelier where our expert artisans in metalwork, woodwork, upholstery, and electrics; restore each piece with the mission to honour a balance between restoration and preservation. There may be light age-related wear but no hard damages or structural issues.
Since the launch of our gallery in late 2017, we have exported over 1059 items to buyers in 21 countries located in all four corners of the world from Europe and North America to Asia and Australia.  In the United States alone, we have ensured the delivery of over 150 pieces of all sizes (from massive dining tables to small decorative objects) in 23 states.  We take the utmost attention to our packaging by building robust made-to-measure boxes in our atelier with the aim of providing safe and cost-effective delivery prices for every client. Most deliveries arrive smoothly in less than 8 days. We are located both in Paris and Rabat. FYI the Morocco Free Trade Agreement (MAFTA) went into effect on January 1, 2006. Under the agreement, most Moroccan goods enter the United States duty-free.
