19th Century French Gothic Walnut Armchair with Embroidery
About the Item
19th century French Gothic walnut armchair with embroidery features timeless design with visual appeal that includes spires, naturalistic forms and lions' heads on the armrests. The style dates back to the middle of the 12th century, and has been regularly revived every century thereafter! A lion is embroidered on the seatback. Sculpted from luxurious French walnut, it is a more unusual example of the genre, usually rendered in oak. Such a regal chair was intended for an opulent office for guests and visitors to feel welcome and at home, as well as pampered!
