About the Item

One of a set of three rare vintage 'Pompeii' armchairs or seats by Italian designer Alberto Orlandi, circa late 1970s-early 1980s. Made in Italy and featuring polished steel, solid cast brass feet and armrest details with white leather seat and backrest. Absolutely wonderful proportions - large curved backrest, twisting to form the armrests and beautifully formed legs - not dissimilar to designs of French design house, Maison Jansen. Each chair has been masterfully welded, crafted and is extremely comfortable. Perfect in a sun room, terrace, living room or as occasional chairs. Rare to find these with the extra brass foot 'risers' as they are often missing. Listed price is for a single chair - three available. We have four chairs available - the one pictured is in very good condition and has simply been carefully cleaned and is available to purchase in a separate listing. There are two which are in the kind of vintage condition that you typically find these in where the lacquer has started to crack and fail causing condensation to seep in and create minor surface rust spotting - this is the condition most other examples are available in from other dealers. We have the fourth being refurbished in our studio as the condition was deemed too poor - these chairs should, after all, be used and you should feel comfortable when sitting in them. The old, failed, lacquer has been removed and the steel is being re-polished. At this stage the brass knobs and feet with be left in original condition. Depending on your desired quantity - we can prepare / refurbish all chairs or we can sell you a single armchair, a pair, three or all four.
