About the Item
A Chinese antique wooden armchair from the early 20th century with hand-carved back and arms, and hand-woven rattan seat. Created in China during the early years of the 20th century, this unusual wooden chair features a mesmerizing back adorned with a central medallion topped with a carved mythical animal surrounded by auspicious motifs such as scrolling clouds, incised stars and foliage. This back is connected to two carved arms adorned with a lovely flower on each side. The seat showcases a hand-woven rattan inset surrounded by a wooden frame. The chair is raised on four straight legs connected to one another through an apron with scrolls on three sides and with a side stretcher in the lower section. Boasting a light brown patina, this Chinese antique armchair from the early 20th century will make for a great accent piece, placed in a living room, study or foyer!
