Antique circa 1860 Victorian Burr Walnut Armchair Royal Coat of Arms Armorial

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this truly sublime, high Victorian Burr Walnut occasional chair with truly exquisite Royal Coat of Arms Armorial crest embroidered seat and back rests This chair is a work of art, I can’t believe the embroidery hasn’t been stripped and framed, it is genuinely around 160 years old and considering the age, in very fine order, this chair should be considered a piece of art The frame is all burr walnut, the seat rails have an exquisite patina, the arms are nicely sculpted, all in all it is a genuinely good thing, it is medium sized so not so small as a nursing chair but not so large as a full sized gentleman’s reading armchair, it is a nice decorative occasional chair We have cleaned waxed and polished the timber, the embroidery has just started to go in a couple of places, I wouldn’t recommend using this as an every day piece Dimensions Height:- 93.5cm Width:- 51.5cm Depth:- 44cm Seat height:- 63.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses. Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.

Armchair Throne Pair Italian Walnut Red Mohair Velvet Armorial Renaissance
Located in BUNGAY, SUFFOLK
A rare pair of late-Renaissance, Italian, upholstered, walnut, throne, open, armchairs or coppia di seggioloni, retaining their original armorials These throne armchairs are characteristic of those found in Palazzo's in the Renaissance. They are elegant and substantial, injecting gravitas into the period or contemporary interior. It is exceptionally rare feature that they retain the original armorials with Ducal coronets which are beautifully worked in gold threadwork. One bears three fleurs-de-lys above three swords and the other a lion rampant. They are sturdy and usable and have a wonderful, lustrous, rich patina. The rectangular backs and seats re-upholstered in a c.1920 mohair...
