Antique French Neogothic Armchair, Desk Chair
About the Item
Antique French Neogothic Armchair ~ Desk Chair is an instant classic! Such chairs were designed for work before the days of ubiquitous casters. The low wraparound seat back provided lumbar support but when one wished to twist around and grab something off the credenza behind the chair, the chair itself wouldn't be in the way! Crafted in the Gothic Revival style from solid oak, it shows the technical skills of talented craftsmen in the joinery and pierced quatrefoil style Greek coin the encircles the apron. The "D" shaped seat is upholstered in supple leather with brass tacks for added appeal. The stripped oak finish provides a soft, attractive appearance perfect for more casual decors.
