This is an antique Glastonbury chair. An English, oak ecclesiastical armchair with Gothic overtones, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1880. Appealing Glastonbury chair with delightful Gothic revival overtones Displaying a desirable aged patina and good order throughout Superb oak stocks show fine grain interest and warm caramel hues Fascinating profile with bold, shaped arms and broad peg joints Crest rail relief carving over a square back rest with panel finish Striking arms with serpentine form, accentuated with trefoil pierced fretwork Flat seat recessed gently inside the frame at a comfortable height of 46cm (18”) Standing upon a quartet of square section legs, in eye-catching X-form This is a striking antique Glastonbury chair with Gothic revival overtones.
