About the Item

Stunning & rare Italian venetian highly carved walnut Baroque upholstered arm chair~~ Besarel~~mid-19th century We recently had the good fortune to obtain this rare work of art~~an antique carved walnut arm chair by the renowned artist Valentino Panciera Besarel (1829-1902), created in the style of Andrea Brustolon, a Venetian woodcarver in the late 17th and early 18th century. Besarel studied in Venice from 1855-1857 and specialized in ornate Baroque designs for furniture frames. His mentor, Brustolon, is credited with high quality Baroque carvings and devotional sculptures at several Venetian churches, one of which is the Basilica of St. Peter. This chair is exquisitely carved throughout~~large figures support the chair with carved putti or cherub figures on arms~~"X" stretcher with up finial and beautifully upholstered floral tapestry seat and back with nail head trim~~such a RARE find~~imagine this in front of a fireplace or as a hall, entry or dining chair!
