About the Item

Royal House Antiques Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this absolutely stunning fully restored reddish brown leather, period William IV circa 1830 Chesterfield Library reclining armchair complete with original mahogany & brass reading slope Please note the delivery fee listed is just a guide, it covers within the M25 only for the UK and local Europe only for international, if you would like an accurate quote, please send me your postcode and I’ll provide you with the exact price. A very good looking and classily designed William IV piece, this chair has the look of the early Gillows chairs, if you google Regency Gillows armchair you will see what I mean. The look and feel is absolutely timeless, this chair looks wonderful in any setting. It is signed to the bottom in pencil William on one side and what looks like Pouliot on the other, it might be the makers name or perhaps the customer it was commissioned for The chair reclines as you can see in the pictures, it has a pull out, height adjustable footstool, the reading slope is fully articulated and again, height adjustable, this chair really is quite sublime and in amazing condition This is the only one of its type I have ever seen with the reading slope still in place, it is a work of art and would cost an absolute fortune to have made today The chair has been fully restored to include being freshly upholstered with new English leather, it has been hand dyed six times, antiqued, sealed and waxed down, it is an fine a condition as you could hope to find a piece like this Dimensions Height:- 107cm Width:- 69cm Depth:- 82cm Seat height:- 44cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask. Any questions please feel free to ask before you bid. Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
