About the Item

Attr: Georges Jacob (French, 1739-1814), Carved Gilt Wood & Polychrome Armchair. This armchair is of incredible detailing and features, from the fluted column body, acanthus leaf carved accents, dentil molding to apron and the absolutely exceptional scale details to the arms - this chair exemplifies the quality and detailing of Georges Jacob. While I can not confirm this chair to be made by him, or even that it is made during his lifetime. It is absolutely made by a follower in the 19th century. Purchased from the estate of Governor Sanders, Atlanta Georgia. Important information: DuMouchelles sold a set of 4 nearly identical armchairs from the Anna T. Dodge Dillman collection with the same Georges Jacob attribution. Several other examples are housed in prestigious institutions including the Getty.
