Authentic Pair French Armchair, Louis XVI Period, 1775-1790
About the Item
These authentic Louis XVI period armchairs, original and authentic, seduced me by their modernity. Very rare with their original cream lacquer, flat and square back "à la Reine", with their strict armrests and highly visible assembly, straight legs turned into quivers in the shape of a column tapered down and fluted. The foot ends in a dice that rests on the ground, while the top is cubic is decorated with a circular molding pattern quite rare contrary to the rosette pattern often used for copies - The queen chairs have perfect proportions in their elegant silhouette.
In general, I am only interested in design and contemporary pieces, but in the course of my peregrinations I sometimes come across pieces that do not leave me indifferent. As for the lyres chairs, the baccarat chandelier and the large golden mirror which were bought in a private mansion on the island Ile Saint-Louis belonging to a former Parisian aristocratic family.
We still have just 4 chairs!!!
These armchairs will find their place in an apartment mixing the modern and the classic or in an unexpected place where design pieces can be found, it's like an echo from the past to the present. See the pictures of the chair in a decor for the talented Interior Designer David Jimenez in his book "Parisian by Design". The two first picture are from the book that you see on picture 3.
The current fabric you see in the photo is not original, it is probably from the 40s and it needs to be changed. On the other two armchairs it is worn . From the 6 pieces we still have the four last armchairs, which is rare because in France families often share them when inheriting and each member take one. I prefer to sell all four or in pairs, but it is also possible to sell one, do not hesitate to send us s message. To bring a contemporary touch depending on the style, I propose to upholster them with timeless velvet or hemp-linen fabric depending on where they will be.
We still have a very large lamps Murano Glass with Loads of 24-Karat Gold by Pauly & Co from 1950 ( you can see them on the picture number 2) or check on the website reference number LU4817219635222 as the exquise authentic XVI century, Lyre Chairs reference number LU4817218574402.

Vase Ball French Ceramist J. Suzor Geometric Pattern, Craqueling Glazelongwy
Located in Paris, France
Jacqueline SUZOR de PANAFIEU (1903 – 1981)
Numbered vase signed J. Suzor, circa 1970 geometric pattern, in Art Deco's style, cracked ceramic, creation Desert Occidental, collection "Rouge-Gorge" "Hand made in France, Faiencerie des Recollets". White craqueling glazed, very beautiful pattern and bright colors. Superb vintage condition, no repairs.
Born in 1903 in Paris, Jacqueline studied drawing as a teenager. From the 1920s to 1935, she began a promising career as a painter.
From Kiki to J.S. de PANA-FIEU, through Suzor, JSP or Pana (more than 6 signatures for one artist!), Jacqueline Suzor de Panafieu assumed several personalities during her life as a Parisian artist. Her signatures bear witness to a woman's life and career made up of ruptures and twists. Curious about everything and everyone, Jacqueline Suzor surrounded herself with artists, writers, filmmakers, actors and photographers who met at her table. She also met Dali and Giacometti. Jacqueline freed herself from the cubist influence, she defined herself in the 1930s, an aesthetic that came from her passion for the Far East, developed through contact with the objects brought back by her ambassador father during his distant travels. Two artists inspired her during the period from 1957 to 1962: Bernard Buffet and Georges Matthieu. From one she borrowed the black lines; from the other she owed her passage to abstraction.
Her numerous exhibitions in the 1970s brought her recognition in France and abroad. It was also a time of commitment within the Union of Women Painters and Sculptors (UFPS), of which she became vice-president.
MAIN EXHIBITIONS :
1933 - Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux Arts, Grand Palais, Paris. 1959 - Gallery Mourgue, Paris. Personal exhibition (EP).
