About the Item

The Cocom Rocking Chair features a simple and lightweight structure with smooth, rounded lines, combined with meticulous handcrafted weaving. Made by a family of artisans from Bacalar, the weaving uses the "ojo de perdiz" technique with cotton or nylon thread. This piece is part of the Cocom Collection, which blends tradition and modernity, elevating craftsmanship to its highest expression with attention to detail. Various endemic tropical woods from southern Mexico are used, giving each piece a vibrant tropical personality. Inspired by traditional wicker rocking chairs and armchairs from Yucatán, the Cocom Collection aims to preserve and revitalize this artisanal legacy. The chairs, armchairs, and rockers are available in a range of weaving colors. finish: wax weaving: cotton or nylon available in: Caribbean Walnut _ Our pieces have a finish based on natural waxes and oils that protect the surface, accentuate the grain and texture and preserve the warm feeling of the wood. All the wood that we work with to create our pieces comes from local "ejidos" (communal land) with responsible forestry management programs and certificates. _ Wood is a natural and organic element. It will vary in color and grain according to each wood plank’s unique characteristics and applied finish. The image shows only one hue of many, making each chair a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture.

By Ania Wolowska
Located in PARQUE INDUSTRIAL OTHON P BLANCO, Quintana Roo
The armchair has a simple and very lightweight structure. Its clean lines, with smooth and rounded edges, blend with the meticulous handwoven pattern. In this handwoven fabric, crafted by a family of artisans from Bacalar, Mexico, the "partridge eye" technique is used with cotton or nylon thread. The design of Cocom armchair draws its inspiration from the wicker rockers and armchairs traditionally woven in Yucatan. Nowadays, this tradition is fading away, along with the art of hand-weaving chairs. That's why the intention behind the design of the Cocom collection is to remember and reclaim that heritage. This piece merges tradition with modernity and elevate craftsmanship to its highest expression in terms of attention to detail. _ design: Ania Wolowska finish: waxed weaving: cotton available in: Caribbean Walnut...
