Distressed American firehouse armchair, 1800's
About the Item
American Windsor firehouse chair with a continuous arm yolk back. The crest rail has an applied scroll raised above the arms, and the entire yoke is supported by eight turned spindles morticed into the plank seat. The turned legs are doweled into the underside of the plank seat and are joined by turned boxed stretchers. The seat and arms show significant wear, and the arms show signs of cracks, which have been stabilized. The chair retains some of its original oxide red painted surface.
