About the Item

An English Regency period mahogany horseshoe back armchair from the 19th century, with balusters, large scrolling arms, carved volutes, turned legs, petite casters and red upholstery. Created in England during the Regency period in the early years of the 19th century, this exquisite mahogany armchair features a horseshoe back with slender turned balusters, flowing seamlessly into the two large arms adorned with scrolling extremities. Delicately carved volutes accentuate the back sides discreetly. The seat, covered with a red upholstery, is resting upon four legs, turned and cylindrical in the front and slightly curving in the back. They are all mounted on petite brass casters allowing the chair to be moved more easily. With its wonderful mahogany grain, elegant Regency lines and horseshoe back design, this English armchair from the 19th century will make for a great addition to any home, perhaps used in a study, a den or a living room!.
