Folk Art Carved Eagle Chairs
About the Item
Very unusual pair of chairs, hand carved, possibly using a chainsaw as well as other blades, of a fierce looking eagle with unfurled wings, its talons on the feet of a man on all fours facing forward on his knees and elbows, with his hands seeming to cover his ears. Apparently unsigned. The wood appears to be walnut or possibly teak. The seat itself is nearly 3 inch thick round slab from a tree trunk, heavily carved with feathers and having scalloped edges. The finish is nice with a satin clear coat. Very solid and heavy ~100 pounds +/-. each.
One is slightly larger than the other. The smaller of the two is 35 inches high, 24 inches wide, 22 inches deep and having 16 inches seat height.
If requested we can have these silver or gold leafed by our expert gilder. Ask us for a quote.
