French 18th Century Oak Armchair

About the Item

A French 18th century (circa 1790) transitional style oak armchair reflecting design influences from Hepplewhite and Sheraton tastes with Directoire refinement. This sturdy, solid oak armchair is all hand carved with a straight top rail accented by brass trim, above a pierced seat back of shield design. Plain arms frame the wide seat upholstered in a striped, cut velvet like a wide-wale corduroy alternating green and gold. Internal stuffing remains firm and supportive to use as a desk chair or occasional chair. Please view the detailed images to see more of this unique armchair.
