About the Item

Beautiful Louis XVI style marquise, gondola, or basket-shaped desk or bedroom armchair. This 19th-century armchair is very comfortable. It is upholstered in a thick, soft, suede-like fabric. In a nude color, it blends perfectly with any interior. This armchair is made of molded and carved wood. The armrest consoles are carved with fluting and twisted brackets. The legs are tapered and fluted. This wonderful armchair is very comfortable and soft, yet also very decorative. France - Louis XVI style - 19th century The Louis XVI style was born in France and was exported throughout Europe and then the whole world. The antique and classic style greatly influenced Louis XVI style furniture and was one of its themes. The attraction for classicism is felt in the design of the furniture. The proportions and volumes are balanced, the elegance is sober and refined; The Petit Trianon, in the park of the Palace of Versailles, offered by King Louis XVI to the Queen Marie-Antoinette, is a good example of the Louis XVI style: its inspiration comes from Greek antiquity, its lines are clearly straight, but for all that, a certain lightness emanates from it. Louis XVI leaves numerous marks of his passage and his investment in the place at Versailles. Louis XVI period furniture is extremely elegant, geometric and of high quality.

French Armchair Bergere Louis-Philippe Period, Louis XV Style circa 1800, France
Located in Beuzevillette, FR
Very nice bergere armchair from the Louis-Philippe period, in the Louis XV style. Large comfortable but elegant armchair. The seat and back are well padded (as well as the armrests) to give it a very comfortable and soft seat. The legs are curved, the wood is solid and upholstery nails run through the bottom of the seat and the left and right sides of the armrests. This armchair is upholstered with a fine cream-coloured tapestry with vegetal and floral motifs, bunches of grapes, knots and foliage. The tapestry presents a fine and delicate decoration in light tones. Note: the upholstery has some marks of time (wear or tears) (especially on the edges of the armrests) France - circa 1800 The Louis XIV style is a furnishing style covering more or less the period of the reign of Louis XIV (1661 to 1715). This style is characterized by the majesty and richness of its furnishings. The Louis XIV style follows the Louis XIII style. The furniture is increasingly luxurious, but unlike previous styles, it is almost no longer inspired by architecture. There are two kinds of furniture: ceremonial furniture richly decorated with veneers and inlays (especially with André-Charles Boulle), solid gilt wood and bourgeois furniture in solid wood. The style is characterized above all by its absolute symmetry and an important and ostentatious dimension. The Louis XIV style is of Italian and ancient inspiration. The style emerged with the advent of the reign of Louis XIV in 1661 and lasted until the end of the 17th century. In 1690, on the death of Lebrun, decorator to the King, the style declined and was gradually replaced by the Regency style. The Palace of Versailles is obviously extremely and lastingly marked by the Louis XIV style. His long reign made it possible to impose the unique style of the Grand...
