About the Item

G M Ellwood for J S Henry. A rare progressive new art armchair. The rounded top follows down the backrest sides and meets the rounded roll over arms that in turn join the rear legs, a very particular well designed intersection of three parts of the back of the armchair, a subtle design detail making it a very strong and shows Ellwoods mastery of design. The fronts of the arms have fruitwood circular inlays which correspond to the circular inlays two each side with copper hearts around each circle. With a semi-circular front stretcher echoing the semi-circular headrest.Ready for upholstery. The Illustration is from Modern British Domestic Architecture and Decoration.
