About the Item

Mexican architect Estrella Zamorano's collection "was born with the intention of returning the identity of Mexico's history to design, creating links between artisans and designers, so that working together we can weave a future respectful of ancestral techniques, as well as being an engine for the economic development of the communities that continue to work in an artisanal way," as she mentions in the interview. This fresh bench is woven with a vegetable fiber called "Chuspata" which grows around the lake of Patzcuaro and is characterized by its durability and beauty. By partnering with local communities in Michoacan, Mexico, Estrella collaborates with artisans from Pátzcuaro in the state of Michoacán to create durable, contemporary, and resistant furniture. The chair's versatility makes it perfect for many uses, as a dining room chair, corner chair, side chair or even lounge chair. All the lumber wood used for the creation of the chairs is certified for exportation meeting all requirements by the Animal and Plant Health Inspection of the US Department of Agriculture. This lounge chair is the perfect complement for a living room, giving a cozy touch to the space. Its handmade weaved detail made with "pedal de cintura" by woman artisans of the region compliments the look -- giving an artisanal touch to the chair, with beautiful elements, very important for the Purépecha culture. Made with solid oak wood from the region.
