A very good looking well made and decorative armchair with a super antiqued finish. The chair is ornately carved all over, they read as follows in order from top to bottom DREDE GOD ANO DOM 1615 MVRVS AENEVS CONSIENTIA STNT RICHARD LVMLEY VIS NZ LVMLEY YOP WAZERPORDE GOD SPARE OUR NOBLE KYNCE The chair has been made to immortalize Kind Richard The Lionheart, this would have been a very expensive and fashionable piece in its day and it showed you were a true royalist Condition wise for the period is sublime, this chair is so tactile, and the patina is to die for, think how many hundreds and maybe thousands of people have used this chair, how many centuries of love and use it took to get looking like this, if the age on the back rest is correct this chair is 410 years old!
