About the Item
"Mercy Seat", is a one-of-a-kind piece as part of Jason Andrew Turner's "Welcome Home" collection. This piece is hand painted and hand crafted by the artist in the United States with acrylic paint on MDF and plywood, featuring his signature abstract brushstroke design. This pieces measures 31"h x 22.5"w x 24"d with the seat at 17" high and is made in collaboration with Picnicwear.
The seat and backrest were fashioned by the artist acid-dying the linen to create a tie-dye effect on foam and batting. The non-removable seat was hand-cut, sewn, and upholstered by Picnicwear.
This armchair with its abstract design and its tie dye effect is a unique piece of furniture, perfect for adding color and uniqueness to your living room or to your home in general.
Jason Andrew Turner (b. 1982, Birmingham, AL) is a visual artist currently based in rural North Carolina. In these newest works, he begins with an armature of sumi ink, laying a thread of black ink as a pathway. Color is applied along the linear architecture relating to the emotional and cultural reflection of color meaning. This slows the immediate path to create a narrative that is both reflective and a reaction to society at large. The configurations are often repeated gestures that relate to behavioral actions, emotional states, anxiety, and symbiotic community. Jason holds a BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design.
