Lounge chairs in Pine and fabric by Karin Mobring, Sweden 1970s.
Karin Mobring designed this Ikea classic Vintage lounge chair in 1972. It is made of solid Scandinavian pine wood and original fabric. The design and the look and feel of this occasional chair reminded me of what someone once taught me about good sculptures, "they look great from all angles". And what is particularly important about a chair is that it is also very comfortable to sit in. People have very different thoughts about IKEA furniture, and they are all right, because people have other ideas about designs, quality, durability, etc, the reality is that Ikea has never been more prominent or more widespread (worldwide), and some of the earlier designs will be the antiques of the future. This rare, stylish, and comfortable midcentury modern chair from the early days of Swedish Ikea design is one of those future antiques that will become increasingly collectible. This particular chair is as solid and stable as the day it was made, and for its age, it is still in good condition with a nice used patina, and it will look great in many a midcentury design interior.
Original fabric in good vintage condition, wood some minor patina.
