About the Item

Lucien Rollin for William Switzer red upholstered and burlwood armchair This chair measures: 32 wide x 34 deep x 41 inches high, with a seat height of 20.5 and arm height of 25 inches This piece is in excellent vintage condtion with a small varnish chip on front right foot. About Photos: We take our photos in a controlled lighting studio to show as much detail as possible. We do not photoshop out blemishes. Condition: At this time, all of our contemporary furniture is sold in the same condition as it is the day it was photographed in our studio. Since our restoration shop is overwhelmed with mid century pieces, our contemporary furniture is sold in "As Is" condition for the foreseeable future. This means that unlike our mid century furniture, we do NOT automatically send our contemporary furniture through the restoration process, therefore it is not subject to our normal restoration lead times. So when you order contemporary pieces from us, they can often ship out to you a lot faster than normal. Currently we estimate that time to be within 4 to 6 weeks, but if this detail is really important to you Even so, when you purchase a contemporary piece, we still devote a lot of attention to detail to carefully clean, wrap, and pack it for safe transport during shipping; plus we keep you fully informed throughout the whole purchasing process - because we want you to be happy with your purchase and tell everyone how easy it is to buy good quality furniture from us at Modern Hill. We know how hard it is to purchase all the furniture you need from multiple sources in different parts of the country and get them shipped to your door at the same time, so we handle all of the details for you and try to make all this as painless and worry-free as possible. All of us at Modern Hill Furniture Warehouse.

Zanuso Marco Style Italian Armchair with Red Velvet
By Marco Zanuso
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest that you read the whole description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Very comfortable and elegant upholstered armchair; the frame is very solid with sturdy legs made of polished and brushed brass; the seat is deliberately low but large and comfortable; the wide overall appearance has soft and pleasing lines, perfect for conveying a feeling of comfort and well-being. The armchair was made between 1960 and 1963 by an artisan workshop in Meda (Milan, Italy) that collaborated with several Lombard architects; for the creation of the armchair, the artisans were inspired by architect Marco Zanuso, following his design. Marco Zanuso (1916-2001) was among the greatest interpreters of the culture of the modern, as an architect, designer, and university lecturer; he was one of the first designers to take an interest in the problems of product industrialization, going beyond the aesthetic question to incorporate technological, industrial, distribution and communication variables. The form of an object intended for serial reproduction, according to Zanuso, is thus a synthesis of opportunities, experimentation, and innovations located in the concrete process that links creativity, production, and sociocultural context. His countless creations include the Lady armchair, and the Antropus armchair...
