Mid Century Burgundy Red Wine Armchair GFM-64 High, Edmund Homa, Europe, 1960s

About the Item

Dark red boucle armchair designed by Edmund Homa, a Polish architect, designer of Industrial Design and interior architecture, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. The armchairs were made in the 1960s in the Gosciecinska Furniture Factory. They are made from solid beechwood. The GFM type armchair is regarded one of the best Polish armchair design from the previous age. The armchairs have been thoroughly renovated. The tension belts have been changed, new upholstery foams. Upholstery - Italian green velvet, this is one of those upholstery fabrics whose haptic (tactile) qualities are as important as strength, pattern or color. It is characterized by a knotty weave, high basis weight and abrasion resistance. We can prepare this armchair also in another wood and fabric color. Please check the last pictures with velvet and wood color samples.
