About the Item
Mucke & Melder Bauhaus Original Upholstered Armchairs, Czech Republic 1930s
A pair of two original armchairs from Bauhaus Mucke & Melder are available in the Czech Republic. Mucke & Melder was a leading producer of modernist tubular metal-based furniture during that time. These armchairs were produced in the 1930s and are typical of the Bauhaus style. The Mucke Melder factory was one of the top addresses for Bauhaus tubular steel furniture. The designs of Mies van der Rohe, Mart Stam, Marcel Bruer, and other iconic figures of the Bauhaus movement heavily influenced the work of Mucke Melder. Unfortunately, little is known about the factory's history, although many of their armchairs have survived. We sourced these chairs ourselves in the Czech Republic. These chairs are excellent examples of the leading design idea of the Bauhaus era, where "form follows function" was the top idea. They would make an eye-catching addition to any interior, such as a living room, family room, screening room, or office.
Additionally, they would perfectly fit in a hospitality or corporate location like a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, or luxury boutique. The chairs were originally upholstered in fabric, which shows signs of wear and tear. We recommend reupholstering them before use.
