We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning original 421/500 Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee English Oak and Ox Blood leather throne armchair A very good looking well made and decorative piece of art furniture, In the year in which Queen Elizbeth II became the longest serving monarch of the United Kingdom, I am pleased to be able to offer this rare and superb quality oak and red leather upholstered throne chair, embossed in gilt lettering with the phrase ‘Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee 1977’. Inspired by the Coronation chair in Westminster Abbey, this chair was made by Wood Bros Ltd of Hertfordshire as one of a limited edition of 500. This example is stamped to the base 421 of the edition of 500. It retailed for £294 in 1977, approximately the equivalent of £2,000 in today’s prices We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, there will be normal age-related patina marks here and there from genuine age and honest use The patina is very nice, the leather in good order, this is a relatively economically priced piece of English Royal history Dimensions Height 140.5cm Width 68.5cm Depth 79.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
