About the Item
Pair Antique French Louis XVI Painted Armchairs represent a style transition into the Directoire look, where a more tailored design created a cleaner appearance. The squared off, contoured seat backs combine with generous seats for comfort, especially paired with the padded armrests. The overall framework is embellished with a tailored fluting design, with a vase form appearing on the armrest supports, and rosettes where the armrest supports join with the seat apron. Originally upholstered in a type of mohair, the fabric is serviceable but easily replaced with your coordinating fabric. The elegant lines of the design are enhanced by the patinaed painted finish which lends to a lighter, more airy effect.
