About the Item
Note the carved and molded details on the upswept serpentine curved arms, apron and cabriole legs.
All inspired by the design vocabulary popularized by Thomas Chippendale in his “Director” published 1754. The upholstered back, pad arms and seat make this both a very comfortable and useful example. A similar example in The Vyne, a National Trust property in Hampshire, England.
