Pair of 20th Century French Louis XV Carved Armchairs with Scalamandre Fabric
About the Item
Add a dose of sophisticated, French style to your home with this pair of large fauteuils. Crafted in France, circa 1920, the elegant armchairs sit on cabriole legs, and feature exquisite carvings on the wooden frame, including shell decor at the pediment, carved scrolls on the armrests, and floral motif on the scalloped apron. Each chair is upholstered in luxurious Scalamandre fabric with discrete tropical motif in the palette of yellow, green and red. The comfortable armchairs are in excellent condition with a light walnut patina and would make a cheerful addition to any room in the house.

Crafted in Provence, France circa 1880, each comfortable fauteuil sits on cabriole legs decorated with acanthus leaves at the shoulder, and ending with escargot feet over an X-form stretcher. Both armchairs have a tall and arched back, a wide and deep seat flanked with open curved armrests decorated with acanthus leaf motifs, over a scalloped apron decorated with hand carved shell and foliate motif on all four sides. Both antique fauteuils are upholstered with a floral and vine decor fabric in the beige and rust palette.
