About the Item

A sensational and high quality pair of French 19th century Empire st. Giltwood armchairs. This statement making pair of throne armchairs are raised by patinated Brass casters the scrolled legs with carved palmettes and top acanthus leaves. The apron above displays a burnished band at the top and bottom with a large scale reserve at the center of a charming rosette flanked by foliate movements and palmettes. The side aprons are decorated in the same manner and lead to the back showcasing a similar reserve which accents the midsection. The handsome circular scrolled upholstered arms have palmettes and additional rosettes before the upholstered armrest. The frame of the upholstered back displays a mottled border while at the top is a repeated design as the bottom apron. Wonderful proportions throughout with comfortable and wide seats.
