About the Item

An exceptional and most elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated and giltwood armchairs. Each armchair is raised by circular tapered fluted legs with fine mottled feet and richly carved corner block rosettes. The apron displays a recessed patinated background framed within a giltwood fillet and centered by a striking finely detailed acanthus leaf reserve. The beautiful scrolled arms each display a unique shape with additional most decorative giltwood fillets leading up the cushioned arms to the arched back support with a central acanthus leaf reserve flanked by foliate finials.
