Pair of Large Louis XV Style Giltwood Fauteuil with Tapestry
About the Item
Estate lawyers say must sell as probate close looms . Pair of unusually large and commodious giltwood fauteuil with possibly 18th century chinoiserie tapestry later associated (and after a conservation process ). The floral tapestry embellished with Oriental figures. Conserved and usable for current seating. The frame in quality gold leaf, water gilt and matte gilt. Sturdy and commodious for large framed seating .
The armpads with the most diminished wear. Loss of color, design and silks. Overall wear to tapestry,age and use , but now conserved, with restoration, lots of life left . Areas of red bole and, or white gesso showing.please enlarge photos as they are quite accurate in showing condition . Backs , seats , and arm pads are drop in . Backs are contemporary striped satin .
