Pair of Model Rialto Armchairs, designed by Hiort af Ornäs, manufactured by Puunveisto Oy, 1950/1960s. Teak frame, renewed leather wrapping on the backrest. The seats are reupholstered with quality wool fabric by Kvadrat. Good vintage condition, minor patina consistent with age and use. The chairs are sold together. Iconic Hiort af Ornäs design.
Carl-Gustaf Vilhelm "Nalle" Hiort af Ornäs was an internationally renowned Finnish furniture designer who became famous in the 1950s/1960s for his armchairs "Siesta" and "Rialto" and other living room furniture such as "Välipala" shelf system and "Näyttely" cabinet. Ornäs ran his own furniture factory, Puunveisto, in Helsinki from the 1940s until the 1970s. His furniture was exhibited at the Milan Triennale in 1957.
