Rare Attributed to Gillows Regency Armchair Hand Dyed Brown Leather Hand-Painted

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this absolutely stunning fully restored hand dyed cigar brown leather period Regency mahogany Chesterfield Porters armchair attributed to Gillows A very good looking and classically designed Regency piece, if you google Regency Gillow's armchair you will see this exact piece, its listed "attributed to" because we can't find the stamp without removing the entire upholstery, that said a lot of their pieces weren't stamped because they were so clearly made by them. The look and feel is absolutely timeless, this chair looks wonderful in any setting The timber is fruitwood which has been painted to reflect rosewood, it's been expertly executed and only a trained eye can see the finish is painted, this was clearly a customer commission and not an uncommon practice in the Regency to Victorian era. The ends of the arms are finished with bronze floral mounts. I have removed the base cover of the chair so you can see its period and has been hand cut, we will, of course, hand nail tack a hessian base cover back in place prior to dispatch The chair has been fully restored to include being hand dyed this lovely deep whisky brown colour, the hide has natural imperfections and marks from honest use and fair ware Dimensions: Height:- 92cm Width:- 67.5cm Depth:- 75cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
