About the Item

Introducing an incredibly rare "Horn" armchair designed by the influential Harrold Schwartz for the lauded Romweber Furniture Co. Painstakingly restored this artfully designed and crafted armchair has a new lease on life and we love the results. Featuring new grey leather upholstery, a jet-black acrylic paint scheme and new medium density foam for maximum comfort and longevity this ultra-stylish accent chair is the very epitome of "one-of-a-kind". With sharp lines, audacious stance and restored brass fasteners this iconic armchair is as comfortable as it is alluring and eye-catching. Harold Schwartz was an American architect, sculpturer and interior designer who gained prominence in the early post-war period and left an indelible mark on the American Mid-Century Modern Design movement with these "Horn" chairs and "Spider" table gaining particular notoriety in the design industry. Schwartz's multifaceted background is evident in every detail with this Horn chair with intricately carved armrests and legs, an architecturally captivating stance and design details like the solid brass feet and backrest fasteners that catch but do not flood the eye. Romweber Furniture Co. was founded in 1879 in Indiana and to this day is still producing primarily case pieces in the state it was founded making it one of the oldest continually operated furniture companies in North America. Specializing in luxurious designs Romweber counts several ex-Presidents and European royalty as it's clients and has designed for and furnished the Carter Library as well as several Governor Mansions and Hotels such as the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan. With it's iconic stance and shape, silky-jet-black paint scheme and new leather upholstery this armchair is ideal for collectors and designers alike searching for a Romweber armchair that's ready for a lifetime more of use. Perfect behind a desk or as a stand alone accent chair this extraordinary piece is sure to make a BOLD and stylish impression in any space it inhabits and is able to blend seamlessly against a multitude of design backdrops from Italian Modern to Contemporary to Mid-Century Modern and everything in between. With so few of these "Horn" chairs available for sale in North America and literally no other like this newly restored masterpiece, when it's gone - it's gone forever. Make it yours today. ---Dimensions--- Width: 25.5 in / 64.77 cm Depth: 23 in / 58.42 cm Height: 32.5 in / 82.55 cm Seat Height: 18 in / 45.72 cm Arm Height: 26 in / 66.04 cm This ionic "Horn" armchair has recently undergone a comprehensive and transformative restoration process and we love the results! The solid maple legs and frames have been hand-sanded and professionally painted in a silky, jet-black acrylic paint and shows no wear whatsoever. The upholstery has ben redone in a fabulous grey genuine leather hide and show only the wear of a once living animal (scars, ranch brands etc.) and both seat and backrest feature new, medium density foam for maximum comfort and longevity. The original solid brass feet and backrest fasteners have been hand-buffed and show only minor tarnishing which can be seen in the detail photos and video provided. This stunning armchair is incredibly comfortable, structurally solid and ready for a literal lifetime more of use thanks to it's recent restoration process. Please view all photos and video for details on this "Horn" chair's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
