there is a bar in the back that can be removed to fold the chairs ,A rare pair of wrought iron and leather folding chairs by New-Hope, PA artist and artesan Morgan Colt (1876-1926).Morgan Colt trained as an architect at Columbia Universityand practised architecture in New-York before settling in New-Hope in 1912 to lead a more "artistic" life He designed hand crafted wood and iron furniture influenced by the Arts&Crafts movement in which industrial manufacturing was rejected in favor of craftsmanship, especially medieval handycrafts. At the same time, along with William Lathrop, Charles Rosen, Robert Spencer, Rae Sloan Bredin, and Daniel Garber he founded the "New Hope Group of Painters". The group exhibited together from 1916 to 1926. Colt's work is difficult to find.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor structural damages. the back of the leather back of an armchair is dry and cracking but I preferred to leave the original leather, see the photos.

A pair of Aesthetic Movement small walnut low folding decorative chairs with cane seats, in the manner of E.W. Godwin. Circa 1870s. Free delivery to the UK via a selected parcel company. The walnut frames are in very good condition and have their original patina, showing some age with use, they have been lightly waxed. One of the chairs cane seats professionally re-caned, and it has been aged to resemble the other original cane seat. This same chair has had the under rail replaced in oak with two bolts, as shown in photograph number 12. This was done many years ago - I would say about 80 plus years, looking at the construction.
