About the Item
Introducing an incredibly rare armchair designed by the incomparable Helge Vestergaard Jensen. Constructed from a frame of solid Burmese teak and replete with variegated woodgrains and intricate joinery this artfully designed and crafted armchair features new, luxurious velour upholstery. Recently and painstakingly restored this aesthetically stunning chair has been hand sanded and refinished bringing the chair back from the dead.
Studying at the prestigious Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Furniture, Helge Vestergaard Jensen worked at several major Danish architecture firms, including Kaare Klint, Hvidt & Mølgaard Nielsen, Palle Suenson, and Vilhelm Lauritzen and in 1950 he established his own practice.
Jensen frequently collaborated with master cabinetmaker Peder Pedersen and together they were regular exhibitors at the Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibitions where they helped set new standards for what one might expect from a piece of furniture. Jensen’s work is characterized by its minimal construction, in order to keep simple and elegant design the focus of the object. Though Jensen is not widely known, his furniture designs are highly sought after because of the limited number that were produced. His sense of craftsmanship, detail, and his uncompromising approach to design make each an unparalleled and collectible item.
Perfect behind a desk or as a stand alone accent chair this elegantly proportioned armchair is ideal for designers and collectors alike searching for a Danish-Modern chair unlike any other. With it's new cushions, upholstery and restored teak frame this chair is ready to stand the test of time. The very epitome of one-of-a-kind when this chair's gone, its gone forever. Make it yours today.

Easy chair designed by Hans Asplund for Nordiska Kompaniet, Sweden, 1955.
Walnut and leather.
This rare easy chair, designed by Hans Asplund for Nordiska Kompaniet in 1955, exemplifies Swedish mid-century modern design. Custom-made for the beauty salon at NK’s flagship department store in Stockholm, only six chairs were made and never offered for retail sale. Asplund’s collaboration with NK often involved site-specific furniture, tailored to complement the interiors of the store or other commissioned spaces. This particular chair highlights Asplund’s focus on functionality and elegance, featuring the walnut frame with elegant, flowing curves that define its sophisticated design paired with cognac leather upholstery.
Hans Asplund (1921–1994) was a prominent Swedish architect and designer, belonging to the renowned Asplund family of architects, which included his father, Gunnar Asplund, one of Sweden’s most celebrated architectural figures. Hans Asplund is best known for his contributions to Swedish modernism, blending functionality with elegance in both architecture and furniture design.
