"SS United States transatlantic ocean liner whose maiden voyage was in 1952. Designed by naval architect William Francis Gibbs and interior designer Dorothy Marckwald. Launched in 1951, the SSUS was the most graceful and powerful in the world, breaking the eastbound speed record on her maiden voyage.
