About the Item

The design of the Temes easychair chair was born of the fusion of two extraordinary pieces of furniture: ´La Chaise´ by Charles and Ray Eames (created in 1948), and the chair designed by Portuguese/Brazilian designer Joaquim Tenreiro (created between 1940-1950). This chair is part of the ´Fusions Series´, a diverse collection of pieces including furniture, objects and architectural elements which are the result of a constant recombination process among furniture and objects resulting in next-generation creations. The Temes easychair embodies the concept of "cultural anthropophagy", launched in Brazil by Oswald de Andrade in 1928 – the notion of devouring the colonial culture and transforming it into something Brazilian and revolutionary. The chair makes strong yet subtle references to the roots of Brazilian culture, expressing a true "mongrel" philosophy that highlights the elements of miscegenation and syncretism in the Brazilian people. Winner of TOP XXI 2011 Award. Brazil.

Surf Brazilian Contemporary Wood and Leather Easychair by Lattoog
By Lattoog
Located in Sao Paolo, BR
Developed for both outdoor and indoor areas, this armchair refers directly to a sport with great cultural identification with Brazil: surf. The first piece produced in order to present the concept had the backrest and chair seat shaped manually in expanded polyurethane, the same used in the manufacture of surfboards. Now, in the official release for the market as serial pieces, we offer both chair and armchair in two versions: upholstered or wooden chair seat.

Arraia Brazilian Contemporary Wood and Fabric Chair by Lattoog
By Lattoog
Located in Sao Paolo, BR
The Arraia armchair design once again links the shapes of nature to the traits of Lattoog designers. Here, marine life, with its vast “library” of ever-flowing and sinuous forms, lent its curves to encourage formal speculations about the possibilities of folding wood. A certain idea of ??melting or organicity was brought precisely to break the rigidity of the wood of the arms and backrest, which are gently supported on the base structure. The final result of this piece reminds us of a stingray in motion – light...

Astral Brazilian Contemporary Wood and Fabric Easychair by Lattoog
By Lattoog
Located in Sao Paolo, BR
The “Astral” armchair is Lattoog's latest release for Empório das Cadeiras and is the youngest of a family of furniture affectionately baptized by the designers of Série Viralatas. Two pieces of furniture, in general modernist classics, are fused (or syncretized) to result in a third design of an original piece of furniture, completely different from the others, but with a strong “genetic load” of its generative matrices. A concept invented by Lattoog in 2005 that has been a great influence for designers from Brazil and abroad as well. Here, strong but subtle references to Brazilian roots and culture are presented: Miscegenation, syncretism and “viralism”. Astral is born from the fusion of the shapes of the Tank armchair...

By Emmanuel Gallina
Located in Milan, Lombardy
Vienna is an extraordinarily comfortable and elegant armchair designed by Emmanuel Gallina who loves to quote Brancusi when saying that “simplicity is complexity resolved”. Inspired to the 50’s of Marcel Gascoin, but also to Vienna at the end of the 19th century. A tribute to Alfred Sloan’s American pragmatism joined to European styling and, in this particular case, to the renowned Italian talent constantly aiming to harmonize beauty and functionality.
