William Birch Stamped Upholstered English Armchair, circa 1890
About the Item
A large scale country house English armchair, by William Birch. The back leg is stamped W.B and numbered 3599, there is also a signature on the rear seat calico. This comfortable armchair retains its original upholstery in the calico on the arms and back. The front legs are square tapered in style ending on original brass collars, the armchair sits on original brass castors. This chair would benefit from the seat being reupholstered.
