19th Century Chinoiserie Armchair

About the Item

This 19th century English Chinoiserie Armchair is in the Queen Ann style. It is hand painted, hand carved, and caned. It is decorated in beautiful scenes of foliage, birds, and shells in shimmering gold leaf; giving us a dancing energy of a tropical forest during sunrise. Semi raised chinoiserie to add to the depth of the artwork and create different foregrounds. The structure of the chair flows upward and awakens the viewer. Elegant curves define the piece--within the legs, arms, and back of the chair--as this would be the style during that time. Pieces were created with ornamental, baroque aesthetics in mind. Great detail was put into this chair, from the legs all the way up to the crown, so it can stand strong for centuries. This would look lovely in a living room, sunroom, or library/office.
