Refurbished Hand Carved Lion and Duck Chair
About the Item
When we got this chair it was just the wooden structure, with the carvings of the ducks and lions. Not knowing exactly where it came from or when it was made; only knowing that the previous owner hand carved all the figures onto the wood. Seeing the potential this chair could have, we put a lot of work into it. First, it was sanded down to smooth out the carvings, so there weren't any ridged edges. Then, a few layers of gesso was added over the entirety of the wooden frame to make the surface smooth, so that red clay could be added on top, and be the undertone to the gold leaf. After that, gold leaf was added to the chair, taking this chair to the next level. The gold leaf was gilded down to give it more of a worn in look. Now all it needed was to be upholstered, so it could be a functional chair. Choosing the neutral of off-white as our fabric color for a calm and ethereal feeling.
