Morris & Co. Phillip Webb Attri. Aesthetic Movement rush seat Sussex side chair

About the Item

Morris & Co. Attributed to Philip Webb An Aesthetic Movement rush seat Sussex side chair with newly laid rush seat. This chair has been totally restored and had new rush professionally laid to the seat. To professionally re-rush a chair seat demands a good deal time. We must start with removing the old rush, then labelling all the separate parts so the chair goes back together the exact way it came apart. Next gently dismantle the chairs, cleaning all the joints and joint ends, re glueing and clamping for at least 24 hours, remove the clamps, and clean and wax the chairs, and off to the rush seat specialist to lay new rush seats. This should always be completed before the new rush is laid because if the chair is even slightly loose at the joints, it will only get worse.
