Paddle Arm Student Chair in Wood Attributed to Jeanneret

About the Item

Paddle arm student chair or writing chair attributed to Pierre Jeanneret (1896-1967). This all-wood model has an inverted Y leg supporting the fixed writing area and a shelf below the seat. A heavy sculptural piece with an aged patina throughout, and a hand-painted numbers to the back of the seat. Wear includes dings, scratches, dents and other marks together with faint signs of old graffiti and natural flaws in the wood. The chair is solid, and in view of age and purpose we expect some maintenance/repairs to have been carried out over the years. We have categorised this piece as in "distressed" condition in order to draw attention to the details; you could consider refinishing or other restoration, however for us these points are all part of the age and character, and we would suggest leaving it as it is. Approximate dimensions: H 83cm W 58cm Measured to the paddle arm D 67cm Measured to the paddle arm Seat height, measured at front 43.5cm.
