Rasmus B Fex 9,5° Chair for Frama, Sweden

About

This sculptural chair by Danish designer Rasmus B Fex for Frama was designed to explore notions of right and wrong in design. Using the characteristics of an archetypal chair framework, Fex lifted one corner higher by nine degrees. This creates an unusual and uncanny aesthetic that is visually lighter but structurally stronger, reducing the need for a stabilising cross rod. This chair tests the intersection of where art meets design and is in the permanent collection at the Trapholt Museum in Denmark, as well as a museum chair at the Knut Hamsun Museum in Norway. In 2014 it won the award for Furniture of the year.

Measures: H 85, W 60, Seat H 45 cm.
